Benoît B. Mandelbrot (20 November 1924 – 14 October 2010), the father of fractal geometry (the geometry of objects that do not have integer dimensions), passed away in a hospice in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the age of 85. He was suffering from pancreatic cancer.
He is known as the “Father of Fractal Geometry” and is regarded with coining the term “fractal” and describing the Mandelbrot set.
